Great value for the money ABF U Pack Moving I found ABF/U-Pack to be great value for the money, and provided excellent ...

When we moved from Reno, NV we chose U-Pack for a few different reasons. 1) We wouldn’t have to drive a big truck and tow our truck 2) They offered storage if we couldn’t find a place to rent when we arrived 3) The price we were quoted was just about the same price of a Uhaul or Ryder truck by the time we factored in the price of gas 4) The trailer they dropped off was 28ft long. We would only be charged for the space we used. I thought that was more than fair and we wouldn’t have to worry about running out of room.
UPack gives a discount if you have the trailer dropped off Tue - Thurs. (ASK FOR A RAMP!! The truck is super tall & with no ramps loading would have been TORTURE! We had them and couldn’t have done without them!)You have 3 business days to load your items into the trailer. They will pick up the trailer M-F. (When we called - they had the trailer picked up within an hour) We chose to have professional movers pack our items into the truck. We provided a lot of twin size blankets vs. moving pads. (We found them to be less expensive) As it was, the movers used a few, but not as many as I thought they would. They started with boxes in the back and stacked them clear up to the roof. Next, they put in the furniture. We had a desk that they put cardboard on and then put our lawnmower on. I was a little uncertain about it - but it worked out great. U-Pack suggests tying your items in to secure them from falling. We had an older trailer than only had tie areas about every 5ft and this was nearly impossible. We ended up not tying anything up. We used the wood wall/divider they provide and hoped for the best.
I noticed there were some patches on the roof that made me a little uneasy - but I decided at least they noticed something & fixed it.
Our items arrived to KS before we did. They will hold the truck for 3 business days and if you cannot unload it - as in our case - we didn’t have a place to live yet - they can provide storage. I was advised to tell U-Pack ahead of time that we wanted storage - which we did. They said you can always take it off - but if you didn’t add it on at the time and needed it later, they may not have room. Storage was $400 for the month and is not prorated for a week, a day or anything.
When we found a place to live - I called and UPack they had me call a storage yard to make delivery arrangements. The truck trailer was placed in a storage yard of some sort. The trailer was delivered the following day 1 hour late. The driver stated he was stuck in traffic. When he arrived - the loading ramps were not in the truck. We complained to UPack and they said they had another truck heading our way and would drop them off in a few hours. We had our helpers already there - so we opted to unload without the ramps. I am not sure that was a good idea. We had to stand in the truck & hand items down to the people helping us. The drop off was about 4-5ft which is a pretty good drop off when you are trying not to drop heavy furniture on people.
When we removed the wooden/wall thingy - our items had shifted and we had to be VERY careful the items didn’t fall on us. Some of our boxes were crushed down a bit from the load shifting, but nothing was broken. Some boxes were pretty damp and our metal filing cabinet had some rust on it. It appears the trailer leaked. We didn’t have to file a claim and all was well, but I did notify U-Pack so they could fix the trailer for the next person.
