After a hike in rent, my husband & I decided to look for greener pastures; we found a great condo 18 miles away. This would be our 1st move as a couple (read: 1st move of not my stuff or his stuff, but ALLLLL of OUR stuff!), and with a CRAMMED 800 sf apt, 1-car sized storage unit, plus items stored at mom’s, we debated back and forth over whether to hire movers or DIY as each of us had done individually in the past. Ultimately it came down to cutting cost, so we chose to bite the bullet, rent a DIY truck, and see how things went.

Excellent Service by United’s Armstrong Relocation Office located in Durham NC United Van Lines

United’s Armstrong Relocation, specifically the Durham NC office, is a top notch moving company with outstanding employees. It is very impressive that every employee at the Durham, NC office — the receptionist, the warehouse workers, the sales person, the moving driver, and the mover — provided excellent customer service. It felt like each person was totally accountable for their part of our move and they wanted to ensure our experience with them was above average. This is quite an achievement considering we moved at the end of June, which is a busy time for them.

Did You Hear The One About Two Men And A Truck? Two Men and a Truck Moving Company

I have moved many times over the years. When I was in the military, I enjoyed the full service treatment from moving companies contracted by the Government to get my stuff from Point A to Point B. After leaving the military my junk became my responsibility. To save money, I have used many different moving companies including U-Haul, Budget and ABF. I recently moved a three bedroom home a short distance and decided to find out how much it would be to have the move done for me. What I discovered was pleasantly surprising.

DO NOT USE FL GATES MOVING Bekins Van Lines

The end of March we paid Gates Moving of Venice(now Sarasota)FL to do the packing of our breakables and move all our household furniture and breakables to their warehouse until we were ready to have it all moved to our new home in TN. We paid monthly for 5 vaults to be stored in their warehouse. First week of June we had them move it to TN only to find that our teak wood dining room table from Denmark and patio furniture was not on the truck and no one knew where it was. It took over two weeks for them to find one of the vaults in one of their warehouses in FL. We have been given a new delivery date for it to reach us here in TN, but we are being told THEY CAN NOT FIND A DRIVER AND OUR ITEMS ARE CONSIDERED OVERFLOW. Right now we do not know if we will ever see our furniture.

ABF: MOVING AS IT SHOULD BE ABF U Pack Moving

We shopped around for the best deal to move across county. We checked full-service movers, (WAY TO EXPENSIVE), u-haul and a variety of others. The best deal was ABF.

We called ABF a couple weeks in advance. We reserved a whole truck, paid $75 for a ramp (u-haul wanted $100) and paid for insurance. Our total was $2525. You can rent part of a truck, but we needed the whole thing.

On the specified date, they showed up on time, delivered the trailer where we wanted it and left. The drivers was friendly, courteous and helpful. We had 3 days to fill the truck, but if we needed more they said just to call them, no problem.

My mother-in-law was moving from CA to TN, and we were arranging the shipping of the last of her stuff after she had already left. The ABF folks I dealt with were all very nice and professional and interested in helping make the experience positive.

The quote can be generated online or via telephone and emailed to you. You then confirm the quote and set up a reservation to have the cube delivered. You load up the cube, then call again to have it picked up. At the other end, they will cal (or you can call them) to schedule an appointment to drop it off.

The Worst Ever Two Men and a Truck Moving Company

I am still recovering from my horrible experience with this moving company. I contracted them several weeks ago for a local move in South Florida. The estimate was obtained over the phone based on a description of the furniture and other possessions being moved and the addresses of the move. On the day of the move, three men showed up with a completely different estimate scribbled over the printed estimate. The hourly rate was now 50% more (for three men) but what is more interesting was that the trip charge for the truck was also 50% more. I complained over the phone to the manager and his impolite and curt response was: “You are on the clock .. why are you arguing with me?”
