We moved from PA to WA for the military on short notice, and due to a neglectful military housing property office, were left to our own devices to move our 4-bedroom house across the country. We had read so many good reviews here on epinions that we felt comfortable that we were in good hands. The initial quote process was easy and the phone operators were initially helpful. We had to make a few changes and they were helpful with that as well. Moving day came and the ReloCubes we had reserved were so small in comparison to the description given and estimate of square footage available that our movers laughed when they arrived and asked when more were coming. After numerous nightmarish calls to customer service, who was not quite so understanding of their inaccurate quote, we then had to have them bring out a trailer, at extra added expense. Once pack, professionally and at great expense to keep our movers extra for their mix-up, the bulkhead was installed as per U-Pack instructions. We were assured that the remaining 8 feet of the trailer would be loaded with freight to help ensure no shifting would occur during transit. We then drove across the country hoping to see our belongings soon.

The “tracking system” employed did not track our goods on time at first or at all towards the end. It took two days to update that the trailer had been picked up. Then it had it in Chicago and made no further updates. We were told after the trailer was enroute that there was yet another charge we could add on to ensure “guaranteed” delivery. We were also told that the terminal and customer service lines had no way of knowing where our freight was, either. Not comforting. We finally have our trailer delivered, without the weight ticket we paid $75 for, and without any word from the “military moving specialist” who we were assured would walk us through this process even making any contact.

We opened our trailer to find that the bulkhead had shifted 8 FEET! We are still sorting through the debris, but we no longer have any toys for our children and 90% of our furniture has sustained serious damage to render it dangerous to have in a home with small children. We were told that no freight was loaded behind our bulkhead after all and that “some shifting” is to be expected in transit. We were also told all throughout that our trailer was being hauled by a truck, no, it was actually moved by train with eight feet of open space, which was a guarantee that it would shift at such high speeds and high impact when cars are shunted. We have lost over 90% of our belongings despite taking every single precaution we were instructed to, and more. We are not new to moving and this has been a nightmare beyond all imagination. I have seen footage from F4 tornadoes that show less damage. We are devastated and have to start rebuilding everything we had, but want to make sure people know what can happen to their shipments. We did not get what we paid for. I do not regularly pay $5000 to people to destroy my belongings or $2000 to movers to pack it wonderfully to have then have careless stewards destroy it. NEVER AGAIN!!
