Two Men and a Truck Moving Company

I am still recovering from my horrible experience with this moving company. I contracted them several weeks ago for a local move in South Florida. The estimate was obtained over the phone based on a description of the furniture and other possessions being moved and the addresses of the move. On the day of the move, three men showed up with a completely different estimate scribbled over the printed estimate. The hourly rate was now 50% more (for three men) but what is more interesting was that the trip charge for the truck was also 50% more. I complained over the phone to the manager and his impolite and curt response was: “You are on the clock .. why are you arguing with me?”

When I was how they were moving stuff - piling up everything, whether fragile on not, on to bins, no quilts used on furniture surfaces, etc - I decide not to move several items (in fact, half the house). They did the same thing at the other end (the move destination). Upon arrival at the destination, I found that they had damaged every piece of furniture (scratches on the surfaces, chips off the legs, and an entire table broken). As the days go by, I still discover more damages from the move on the furniture.

This is definitely a fly-by-the-night operator. Even the customer service questionnaire that arrived later in the mail from the franchisor did not provide any names - just a number to call and a note that a “Quality Control Supervisor” can be contacted. Also, the questionnnaire had codes to identify respondents. Any company that wants its identity a secret but respondent identity revealed in a survey is engaging in unethical research practices.

I wish I had read the reviews posted on this site (except for Alpharetta) before contracting with this company.
